just call me blog loser

I think I officially beat my  record for longest running blog absence ever and I have had some good ones before.

Once school started here, all hell broke loose it seems, pardon my nice vocabulary, but it’s really the best way to describe it.  I’m still trying to figure out what happened to our schedules.  I guess that doubling the number of children  (mind you I’m only going from 1 to 2, can you say that’s SAD?) in full school and after school activities is a little more than I expected.   We’re still trying to find that routine of normalcy.  If I get that figured out, I’ll let you know.

Our after school activities include dance, gymnastics, kids orchestra (cello), piano, and volleyball which I’m coaching for a group of 4th graders. We’ve done some of this before, some of it’s new, but we’ve changed locations and nights and have just added a little bit more I guess.

We’ve been to all the H.S. football games and of course it’s that time of year when K-State football is back in action.  Marty and Delaney haven’t missed a game yet and Delaney even had a friend go with her too, pretty fun thing for a 9 year old girls to do together.

We’ve been going through some vision testing for Delaney and have recently discovered that we’ll be starting her in Vision Therapy (that’s a story for a whole post in itself.)  But we didn’t have any idea there was anything wrong with her eye sight as she has 20/20 vision.  But apparently there are so many other kids with the same issues and it often goes undetected.  We’ve been to several appointments for this and have more to come.   She will need to go for 1 hour every week and we’re trying to figure out where and when we’re going to fit that in, it’s an hour drive round trip.  Just one more thing, but one very important thing that will require 30 minutes of excercises everyday at home too.

Both the girls have already had a little bug and missed a day and 1/2 of school each.  Gotta love all the germs being back in school too.

I was looking through my September photos and realized that it seems I took a break from taking photos too as I have so FEW!  That’s just a little bit odd for me, but I guess telling of the last few weeks.

The weather has been gorgeous and fall is definitely peeking in on us, which I love.  AND, you will be suprised to know that I have been collecting some of my favorite fall photos and inspiration that I am looking forward to sharing with you.  Some recipes and some things I would LOVE to buy, but will probably just window shop from my computer.

I am working on new stamp art and hope to have it finished soon.  I love designing new stamps, except for the fact that it makes me just want to stamp.  I have the biggest itch to play around with product right now.

Wanted to answer some questions, I almost forgot to answer:

The girls got American Girl dolls (seen in this post with McK) in matching dresses (or close enough) to theirs at the wedding on the night of rehearsal.  They were setting in the dressing room with all the dresses just waiting to go to the dinner with the girls.  McKinley had previously had a a knock off version from Target which she still considers American Girl because that’s what we call it.  She only knows of them because of their lovely catalog which we get and she reads like the bible for months.  They both love their dolls, even though Delaney showed her excitement in a much different more cool 9 year old way, than McK did.  We still hope to visit the store in Chicago some time too.  I think I want to go as much as the girls.

Delaney’s messenger bag for school here is from PotteryBarn Teen.   Link to buy.  You can’t go wrong with their quality.  She had another one from PBKids for the last 2 years and it’s still in perfect condition, she just was ready to move on to a new style.  Looks like they are even on sale now too.

McKinley felt she needed to have the American Girl backpack.  Note the special pocket in the back for taking your doll  with you even though I explained she would not be going to school with her.  She was totally ok with that and told me it would work great on trips to Grandma’s and on airplanes, as if she goes on airplanes a lot.  Funny also because the bag seems almost as big as she is.

Because I can’t post without a photo, I took that photo above after school on that first day.  The rest of the photos below are from our mom & me lunch on the first half day of Kindergarten.  There is nothing like Swedish pancakes to hit the spot. Who knew that this little girl could eat $10 worth of pancakes.  The equivalent to 10 pancakes like I make at home.  She just didn’t stop.  I guess Kindergarten makes you hungry.

Please excuse any misspelllings in this post as I can only see about half of it as the rest is covered by the sam black box. Thanks, Barbara

    Hi there,
I love the idea of the photo books. I wasn’t able to find the spiral bound one on the photoworks website. Can you let me know where you got that one (one the top photo)?
    Thanks,
    Amy

I’d love to see the others, but understand if you’re not comfortable sharing. Such a great idea. I’ve made photo books in the past, but I like covers of yours and the printing on the side/spine area. So cool. No kids here yet, but I will definitely be doing this when I do!

Love your idea! I too struggle with the perfectionism of not being able to do it at all, if I can’t do it perfect. Couple that with going back to work full time and I am really, really behind on my scrapbooks!

If you wouldn’t mind sharing - I would love to see more ideas for the layouts.

    Thanks,
    Karen

reading your blog a few years ago actually inspired me to create a book at photoworks for my hubby.
i too spend a large amount of time taking photos, leaving little time to scrapbook them. the book is gorgeous & wish i could say i have created more.
i sometimes feel that because my older three were tweens & teens before i got a great digital camera, that all my photo albums wouldn’t be consistant. geez, so much pressure.
i like the idea of yearly books for each child…i have 4 girls…gotta get caught up .
    thanks for sharing your system

I’d be interested in looking at your complete books as you’ve got me thinking…I have been doing albums for my kids w/ highlight pages of the past year (non digital) but maybe that will come to an end in 2008. I like that idea. THanks for sharing!

I love your photobooks and think this might be the solution for me. I have an almost-3-year-old and I still haven’t completed her adoption scrapbook from two years ago. I would love to see more of your books for ideas. Thanks for the great idea!

I love this idea! Thanks so much for sharing - and once the book is created it can be reordered for grandparents, etc. I think I’ll try it!

I just did my first digital book and I am happy with the outcome. It was from our recent trip to California. I would love to do books for my children. I would like the link to your books if you don’t mind sending it. Thanks
