it’s Friday

I almost forgot.  Well…., forgot that is about Friday Flashback.

This photo was the first photo I opened, without even knowing what I would find.  I just love finding hidden treasures like this.  First folder, first photo….

McKinley always had a fascination of swim goggles.  No surprise that today she still covets goggles and carries them at all times at the pool.  There were many times that she would be seen playing with them on her head, wearing them around the house, begging to take a bath.  She still loves being a mermaid in the bath tub.  The kid just loves the water, swimming and her goggles.

goodness how time flies…..whatever happened to this precious little one…she looks so much different.  Her hair is dark and those chubby little cheeks are no longer. How I would love to squeeze them….after seeing this.   I forgot how chubby they were, when she was a toddler.    She gets them from her Daddy, he has those chubby cheeks….shhhh. don’t tell him I said that.

Right next to this photo, was one of Delaney that week, 4 years ago, which puts her very close in age to what McKinley is now.  In many ways, they look SO much the same.

my note to self from seeing this:

Remember to make the effort to grab your camera for the most ordinary activities like potty training, which at the time might seem like  one of those everyday obstacles you wish would pass.  Because today, 4 years later, I am so glad I stopped what I was doing that day (even though I’m sure I had 100 things running through my mind at the time)  to capture this (along with the 15 other photos I have of her playing in the bathroom.)

It takes just a  little extra time today capturing what will become tomorrow’s treasure, no matter how mundane or everyday.   And a second thought, is to stand strong with girls of certain ages who think the camera is their worst enemy (heh…heh.)

You can see other Friday Flashback posts here, and here.

Oh and since it’s Friday and I   L O V E  fridays….comment to this post for a chance to win a set of stamps….BRAND NEW.

btw, I am still designing stamps for Hampton, who has a cool new blog.  Not everything I design has my name on it, but I will be doing more new Art Warehouse stamps for CHA Summer.

I love these pics! Glad to hear about the new stamps. Oh and there is a chance that McK is not going to be happy you posted these pics of her sitting on the potty, lol.

Thanks for sharing these cute pictures. My youngest is being potty trained right now and I don’t have any potty pictures of her or her older brother and sister. I’ll grab my camera next time before it’s too late. :)

And that is great to hear you are still designing and doing Art Warehouse - one of my continual favorite lines!

okay, I already tried to post one time, will try again, so if you get multiple post I am so sorry.

Thank you for the reminder. I shall get a picture right now. i think it is so cool that you are taking the time now to go back and find the treasures that you took then. You are so lucky that your camera skills were so good even then. Seems like all of my indoor shots from 4 years ago were so very yellow :) Treasures just the same!

So glad I happened upon your blog. This Flashback Friday idea is such a good one. Because I started with scrapbooking so late (two kids all grown up), I struggle to get some of those times scrapped. This is a great incentive to not just look back, but get them out of boxes and onto layouts. Thanks for the inspiration.

I love your Friday flashback. I seem to be doing a lot of the same recently. I have old black and white ( as well as color) photos of when I was young and I love putting them together with current pictures of my nieces. Also like to wonder what was going on in my Mom and Dad’s heads at the moment the photo was taken,

    Danelle,

I love your Friday Flashback posts - -not only are the photos adorable but I love seeing people’s history and the reminder to take today’s photos because today’s mundane = tomorrow’s treasure.

    Becky :)

I love these photos, just priceless. I’ve had my DSLR for about a year now and when I see the quality of my photos vs what they were when my daughter was tiny I just cringe. Wish I had made the move so much sooner. Thanks Danielle for constantly inspiring me to take quality photos that will be treasured forever!

I love your Friday Flashbacks - it encourages me to look back through my own photos.

I am glad to know you are still designing. Is there a way we can find out which stuff is yours, even without your name on it?
